As the warm days of summer arrive, the Long Branch Free Public Library is excited to announce our Summer Reading Program 2024 “Adventure Begins at Your Library.” This summer, we invite readers of all ages to embark on thrilling journeys through books, engaging programs, and our reading challenge. With something for everyone, our library is the perfect destination for an adventurous summer.
In addition to our regular weekly programs, we are offering a variety of fun summer programs for Children and Adults, plus our Summer Reading Contest!
Special Children’s Programs at the Elberon Branch Library
- One Hour of STEM Time for children ages 4-11 years, Friday, July 19th and Friday, August 2nd at 4:00pm
- Story Time Visit with the Long Branch Police Department, Wednesday, August 14th at 4:30pm
- Story Time Visit with Elephant & Piggie, Wednesday, August 21st at 4:30pm
- A Daring Adventure Show, Wednesday, August 24th at 11:00am
- Indoor Movie: Disney’s Tarzan (Rated G, 1992) on Wednesday, August 24th at 4:30pm
All are welcome to enjoy a free BBQ and a fun-filled evening with family and friends on August 19th at 6pm! We will be showing The Super Mario Bros. Movie at the Broadway Band Shell, 205 Union Avenue. Bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy a movie under the stars!
Summer Programs for Adults
Our adult programming this summer offers a variety of enriching and relaxing activities designed to nurture both mind and body:
Wildflower Paper Seed Balls Workshop: Get your hands dirty in a fun and eco-friendly workshop where you’ll learn to make wildflower paper seed balls. This workshop combines crafting with gardening, allowing you to create beautiful and sustainable gifts for your garden or to share with friends. This workshop is presented in partnership with the Long Branch Arts and Cultural Center at 577 Broadway, on Monday, August 12th at 3:00pm.
Reiki Healing Session: Celebrate National Wellness Month by learning about the healing power of Reiki with certified practitioner Kimberly Ward. Enjoy an immersive sound bowl guided meditation with reiki touch. This program will be held in partnership with the Long Branch Arts and Cultural Center at 577 Broadway, on Wednesday, August 21st at 6:30pm.
The Staff Book Club meets at the Elberon Branch Library at 2:00pm. Enjoy reading a different genre each month, with a discussion moderated by a rotation of staff members. Join us on Thursday, July 18th for The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis, moderated by Janet. We will discuss Solito by Javier Zamora on Thursday, August 15th, moderated by Michelle.

Our Summer Reading Program has begun and lasts August 31st. Each book read and recorded in our READsquared app counts as an entry to win one of seven Amazon Fire Tablets, generously sponsored by the Friends of the Library. This contest is for readers of all ages.
